As we enter into the darkest and coldest part of the year, we thought it would be fun to combine two awesome things into one blog post:  The beach and a giggle. After all, a little dose of humor can do wonders to brighten your day. 

According to the Mayo Clinic, "laughter is a great source of stress relief". A good laugh can increase your oxygen intake, give you a quick shot of stress-relieving endorphins, and when your laugh is over, leave you with a satisfied feeling of well-being. 

Also, when you are able to keep a positive outlook, it affects the people around you. Have you ever noticed that when you are stressed or sad, the other people living in your house seem to reflect that mood like a mirror, making things even worse? Luckily this concept goes both ways, and your GOOD mood can be infectious! 

We have browsed the internet for some cute, beachy videos, photos and clips that will not only remind you of your awesome vacations in Sunset Beach, North Carolina... they will make you laugh, too! We will also give you a couple of tips for taking your own funny photos and videos to enjoy for years to come.

Here are a couple of funny, family-friendly videos of dogs, kids, and kids-at-heart having a blast on the beach. Most of the videos seem to be of babies getting bowled over by ocean waves, which honestly, should serve as a reminder to all parents to keep a vigilant eye on the littles! 

Taking beach photos:

You know you love to document your beach vacation. You probably have all of the typical scenes preserved on your phone's camera roll, like the kids eating ice cream after dinner, or building sand castles next to the ocean. Consider adding some creativity and humor to your shots next time! Here are a few ideas:

 Want to capture the best candid moments of your family and friends while you are on vacation? The trick is to have the camera rolling as often as possible, because the funny moments can't be planned ahead. 

Now, we realize this suggestion won't work for everyone. After all, the point of vacation is to get off your phone and engage with your loved ones. Also, sand, water, and cameras don't play nicely together. Lastly, if you have little kids, you need to be constantly vigilant while next to the ocean. The phone or camera can be very distracting and shouldn't always be rolling. 

To combat this, here are a few suggestions: 

• Assign one adult the role of "Staff Photographer" for a period of time, then switch jobs. 
• Let the kids take the camera for a while (if you trust them!).
• Invest in a waterproof Go-Pro that can be strapped onto your dog, kid, or boogie board. 
• Purchase a waterproof case for your phone to reduce the worry-factor.
• Stage some shots or scenes, as outlined above. 
• Make sure the camera is rolling when there is high potential for hilarity (like the first time baby sits in the sand, or the first time your kid tries boogie boarding into a big wave).
